F.A.Q.

No. All of the therapists at Selah have many specialties. One of our unique specialties is an ethical integration of faith-based worldviews into counseling. If you do not want this integration, we will not include it. We have all worked in settings where we do not use this specialization and are happy to serve you in meeting your counseling goals.

All of the counselors at Selah are licensed and in good standing with the State of Nebraska. We believe in high ethical standards.

We also believe that long-lasting impact and change happens when the most holistic form of care can take place. This involves integration of the spiritual aspect of your life alongside emotional, psychological, and biological. Many we have spoken to report that they have tried other things, but the most impactful thing we do is integrate spirituality into care. Many feel safe knowing that we understand the Christian worldview, but also understand how the Christian Church has been hurtful to many.

Our sessions last somewhere between 45-55 minutes.

Our practice accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield, United HealthCare/UMR/Optum, Medica, Cigna, and Midlands Choice insurance, as well as HSA/FSA payments. We are not in-network with Medicaid or Medicare. Please note, not all of our therapists are credentialed with every insurance provider listed, so we invite you to review individual profiles under “Our Team” or contact our office for more information.

We also offer superbills if you would like to submit claims directly to your insurance. Because coverage varies by plan, we strongly encourage checking the specifics of your mental health benefits with your provider.

Counseling rates vary based on your therapist, service type, and insurance coverage. Selah Counseling Center partners with many major insurance providers and is happy to verify your benefits before your first session. To help make counseling more accessible, we also offer reduced-rate sessions and the Selah Scholarship Program, designed to minimize financial barriers to care. If you’d like to discuss rates, insurance options, or eligibility for financial assistance, please reach out to us at [email protected] or call 402-948-4702.

This depends on several things. The main ones are: your goals, how long this has been an issue, the severity of the issue, and if other things come up while we are in counseling. We have worked with people who feel they’ve resolved issues in as little as 5-8 sessions, we have others who have been in counseling for a few years.  There is no right or wrong number of sessions for counseling, it is deeply individual. We will work with you to determine the right goals and timeline for your needs.

For premarital counseling, we recommend 6 sessions, three before you are married and three after you are married.

Many people who come to counseling describe feeling “stuck.” Others have significant ongoing concerns and want extra support. Others still are unable to pinpoint an exact “issue” but want to engage in preventative work. Research shows time and again that counseling can have significant benefits in any season of life, and can be an excellent investment in yourself or your relationship.
